The Knights of Columbus is an organization of men who are committed to volunteer service, charity, unity, fraternity, patriotism and defense of priesthood and the religious life. This organization was founded in 1892 by Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, CT. The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men's fraternal benefit society that was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works. The Knights of Columbus is the largest lay organization in the Catholic Church. All men are invited and encouraged to join.
Father Michael J. McGivney
Knights
of Columbus was founded in 1892 by Father Michael J. McGivney in New
Haven, CT. The history of the Order shows how the foresight of Father
Michael J. McGivney, whose cause for sainthood is being investigated by
the Vatican, brought about what has become the world's foremost
Catholic fraternal benefit society. The Order has helped families
obtain economic security and stability through its life insurance,
annuity and long-term care programs, and has contributed time and
energy worldwide to service in communities.
The Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to more than 12,000 councils and 1.7 million members throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Guatemala, Guam and Saipan.
Who can be a Knight?:
Knights are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed
to making their community a better place, while supporting their
Church. Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved
with your community; it is supporting your local Catholic Church, while
enhancing your own faith; it is about protecting and enhancing your

At St Peter:We have Knights of Columbus in the name of St. Peter
Council #14590.The council meets every 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM and the 4th degree meets with Wallingford on the first Wednseday of the month. We strive to be the right arm of St Peter Parish and help the pastor with all we can do.
